Gujarat may soon follow Maharashtra redevelopment model Gujarat is likely to announce a redevelopment policy, loosely modelled on the Maharashtra Law. Though the state government allows redevelopment of private societies, provisions of the existing Gujarat Ownership Flat Act, 1973 and general development control regulations (GDCR) requires consent of 100% of society members.
Under the new policy, the government is planning to relax the consent clause by allowing redevelopment decision even if only 60% or 70% members wish so. “The clause is still under discussion.”.
Indian drug makers see hike in Chinese raw material as an opportunity to produce locally There are around 7,000 active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturers in China, catering to around 80 percent of India drug makers’ raw material needs. According to government, India's import of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) from China stood at Rs 12,254.97 crore in 2016-17.
GE Power to shut Gujarat plant from tomorrow
GE Power India today said it will close down operations at its Maneja (Vadodara) manufacturing plant in Gujarat. The company said 95 percent of workmen at the facility have opted for the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS), which was initiated on August 21 and closed on August 25.

35 developers express interest in Gujarat's offshore wind project
The wind energy project with a capacity to produce 1,000 megawatts has been planned off the coast of Pipavav port in Gujarat. The project is being developed jointly by Central Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Gujarat government. As many as 35 national and international developers have shown interest in this project. The offshore wind projects allow the developers to install larger capacity wind turbines, which is not possible in the onshore projects due to the transportation constraints.
ReNew Power Successfully Commissions 126 MW of the First Reverse Wind Auction in India
ReNew Power Limited, India's largest renewable energy IPP in terms of total energy generation capacity, announced the successful commissioning of Phase 1 (126 MW) of its 250 MW wind project located in Kutch district of Gujarat. This project is part of the India's first wind power reverse auction concluded by Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) in February 2017 under the 1000 MW Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS).
The 250MW wind power project was won at a tariff of 3.46 INR/unit by Ostro Kutch Wind Pvt. Ltd in April 2017, which, through an acquisition of Ostro Energy Private Limited and its portfolio of wind and solar energy projects became part of ReNew Power in March 2018.
Pm Inaugurates Developmental Projects Worth Rs.500 Crores In Junagadh
Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated various developmental projects worth Rs. 500 crores in Junagadh district. These included the Government Civil Hospital, a milk processing plant at Khokharada and 13 projects of Junagadh Municipal Corporation. The PM inaugurated these projects digitally.
Centre passes Rs 1,484 crore soft loan for Narmada project
Finally after years of representation, the state government has been successful in getting loans and grants from the Centre to complete the Narmada canal network and maintain the Sardar Sarovar dam. Under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) grants, the Centre has approved Rs 730.90 crore for construction of Sardar Sarovar Narmada project canal network.
MEA to open six new Passport Seva Kendras in Gujarat: Akbar
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will open six new Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) in Gujarat, Union Minister M J Akbar said. Akbar said these PSKs would come up in Amreli, Gandhinagar, Surendranagar, Sabarkantha, Surat and Patan districts.

Scientists develop high-yielding pea variety
Scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research developed a pea variety that bears more flowers per stalk and therefore yields more peas per plant. Scientists also found that multiple flowering did not always corresponded to more pod yield as in certain derived variety (VRPSeL–1 p) multiple flowering was not supported by the thick stalk. Due to this flower or pod got shattered in an untimely manner restricting the realised potential.

Gujarat: Kharif sowing rises to 76 lakh hectare
Kharif sowing in the state is pegged at 75.95 lakh hectare as on August 27, according to a data of the state director of agriculture. Farmers say the recent spell of rains has saved the day, but another spell will be soon needed to ensure that there is no damage to the crops.
Maharashtra to sign MoU with IISc to make drones for crop assessment
