Committee Events

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have been globally recognized as the engines of growth of the economy. Gujarat is no exception to this. MSMEs play a very significant role in the industrial progress of the state. Chemicals, pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, plastics etc are some of the areas dominated by the MSMEs. With a view to act as a facilitator between the Government of Gujarat and the Government of India on one hand and the MSME units on the other, help to resolve the problems and facilitate the growth of the latter, the MSME Working Committee has been established in the GCCI consisting of experts in this sector. The MSME Working Committee organizes seminars, discussion forums, conferences, meetings open houses etc. to inform the members of the developments in this area and to focus on their problems. The MSME Working Committee has a ‘Help Desk’ which can be approached by any member with its problems and seek guidance and help in resolving them. It has also instituted recently the MSME Awards to recognize outstanding performance by the MSME units in the state.

The MSME Working Committee has been recently reconstituted with Shri Jaimin Vasa as the Chairman. Shri Mahendra Patel, President is the GCCI office-bearer in charge.

In the current year the MSME Committee has organized numerous events for the growth and development of the MSMEs. Some of the major activities include interaction with concerned authorities to discuss MSME issues, participation and joint programmes with FICCI, ASSOCHEM, CII, etc for the benefit of the MSMEs, overseas tours for exploring business opportunities for MSME business units, and maintenance of the MSME help desk. Among the recent activities of this Committee are the visit to the GCCI by Shri Uday Kumar Verma, Secretary, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, giving away the GCCI MSME Awards by the Hon’ble Chief Minister to the best MSMEs in the State, a panel discussion on “Continuing the MSME momentum in Gujarat” and a Seminar on “SME Exchange – Platform for Equity Finance and submitting suggestions to the governmental authorities on important issues such as the Draft Strategic Action Plan of the Ministry of MSME, bank related issues of MSMEs, developmental and policy issues, rehabilitation of sick units and incentive schemes.
