We are pleased to mention that GCCI (Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry) along with other associations organized "The All Gujarat Open House on Income Tax" today (Wednesday, 20th February, 2019), where important decisions were taken. The highlights of which are shared herewith.

  • A Grievance Redressal Week from 1st to 8th March, 2019 shall be organised by the Income Tax Department across all its Offices in Gujarat, with a view to effectively resolve all pending Tax Payer Issues relating to Rectifications, Appeal Effects and Consequential Refunds.
  • This was announced by Shri Ajay Das Mehrotra, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Gujarat, while addressing the All Gujarat Open House on Income Tax organised by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry in cooperation with the Regional Chambers and Professional Associations across the State.
  • In his keynote address, Shri Mehrotra appreciated the contribution of people of Gujarat towards nation's growth. Shri Mehrotra highlighted various initiatives like e-filing, e-assessment, grievance redressal etc. taken to provide a more taxpayer friendly administration.
  • Another new & unique initiative for addressing the issue of hardships faced by Tax Payers in claiming due tax credits for TDS, in cases where such Tax is not deposited with the Government in time or where the details of deduction are not correctly reported by the Tax-deductors, was also announced at the Open House by Shri R K Shrivastava, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS).
  • As per the same, Taxpayers having grievances in this regard will now be able to approach with relevant details to the Single Window Clearance Cell of the Department by filing an Online Application, on the basis of which the TDS Authorities shall take necessary steps to pursue Deductors to take corrective actions.
  • The Income Tax Department has launched online facility for applying No/Lower Tax deduction certificate u/s 197/195 of the Act and is in the process of launching CPC-TDS phase - 2 in this calendar year itself which will be more taxpayer friendly and will resolve most of the grievances related to TDS/TCS being faced by the assessees at present.
